Accounting and Payroll Diploma

PTI’s Accounting and Payroll Diploma program will help you gain computer and office administration skills and a practical foundation in accounting, bookkeeping, computerized accounting systems, and payroll. Our accounting courses will prepare you to enter the workforce by teaching you how to do journal entries, how to read financial statements, and how to adjust accounts. Payroll courses will equip you with the tools necessary to meet the demands of the current job market.

Program Description

  1. Develop proficiency as an accounting and payroll clerk in a wide variety of areas.
  2. Learn the skills and education that allow you to develop an entrepreneurial mindset.
  3. Program subjects include Bookkeeping and Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Computerized Accounting with Simply by Sage Level 1 & 2, Payroll Fundamentals 1 & 2, Human Resource Management, Microsoft Applications, Accounting and Taxation, Financial & Management, and Business Communication. Marketing & Economics, Computer Fundamentals with keyboarding, Microsoft Word Level 1 & 2, Microsoft Excel Level 1 & 2, Tax Application / software (TurboTax/ U file / profile).
  4. Learn to use Microsoft Windows applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Course Duration
  • 1 year or less: 1040 hours (52 weeks).
  • 20 hours per week.
  • Classes are held mornings, evenings, or on weekends.
  • In-house practicum hours.

Admission Requirement ~ Prerequisites

Alberta high school diploma / non-Alberta equivalent / GED – English proficiency – CLB 6, IELTS (academic module) 5 – Keyboarding (15 wpm, no errors) – Clear security clearance – Ability to carry out the workload – Interview with Program Coordinator 

Mature Admission Requirement

18 years or older – At least one year out of school – Successful completion of Wonderlic Test (passing mark is 20).
